The Pavilions nations create as their platform at Expo, form the Champions League of experiential, architectural and narrative design.

  • <autoplay speed=4></autoplay> “Our pavilion feels like home to me. It has a warm, cozy and open atmosphere and with our always friendly and smiling hosts it makes our family com- plete. The abstract design of our pavilion attracts visitors for making selfies and photo’s. The Kazakh press always ask me where the abstract design of the pavilion comes from. They like it a lot!”

    Ms. Evelien Bijl
Pavilion Director, Netherlands Pavilion Expo 2017 Astana

  • “Chinese visitors, foreigners of various nationalities, Algerians or officials… they all agree that the pavilion of Algeria is extremely original in its design. For myself, the impact of the pavilion at the event visitors and by comparison with other pavilion at Expo Shanghai is incredible. A clever and well thought through pavilion design, visitor flow, media experience and rational spatial occupation, revealed an artistic taste and accuracy in the reconstruction of the CASBAH, a subtle balance between the built volumes and audio visual systems.“

    Mr. El Hadi Boumaza
Pavilion Director, Algeria Pavilion, Expo 2010, Shanghai

  • “We were glad to collaborate and work with EPG on the successful Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pavilion project at Expo 2023 Doha, inspired by one of the most important features of the Kingdom: Tawaiq Mountain. All sections of the pavilion were received with great response by all visitors.”

    Mr. Saleh Abdulmohsen Bindakil
General Supervisor of Saudi Arabia’s Pavilion

  • “Melle has the rare combination of mastery of both creative and execution. He is methodical and systematic in his rigorous approach to developing the narrative and creative direction. His experience in execution allows him to explore freely new ideas and possibilities in the creative process knowing that he will connect the big idea all the way through to every detail.“

visitor journeys

and experiences

World Expo is a niche in the Design World. It is highly multi-disciplinary, requiring not only design excellence, but also story telling brilliance and a capability to orchestrate story, architecture and visitor experience. But not only that; it needs a certain level of Cultural Sensitivity to be able to connect the visitor to the stories that need to be told.

  • Narrative design is the art and science of crafting a compelling story framework and forms the basis for successful Expo projects. It is a multidisciplinary field that weaves together storytelling, culture and design principles to create engaging and impactful narratives.

Here, emphasis is also placed on world-building - providing substantial background details about the game's universe, enhancing immersion and believability.

In essence, narrative design involves understanding how to construct a story that not only captivates its audience but also left lasting impressions, considering every aspect, from dialogue and character arcs to pacing and plot structure. The ultimate goal is to merge interactive design and storytelling seamlessly, creating a rich, fulfilling narrative experience that resonates with audiences and entices them to keep exploring the story world.

  • Working on World Expo projects, is essentially a globally integrative endeavor. It offers an unparalleled opportunity to build bridges between cultures, facilitating global understanding and fostering a sense of global unity. The challenge lies in encapsulating the culture and essence of the participant nation and accurately presenting it to the host country's visitors in a respectful and accessible manner.

This process requires both sensitivity and empathy as it involves not only representing a culture but also interpreting and translating it for others to understand. It's about engaging visitors by celebrating the unique attributes and contributions of the participating nations, while also acknowledging and respecting the cultural perspective of the host country's audience.

When done right, it not only brings cultures together but also facilitates cultural exchange, leading to a more harmonious global community. EPG does just that just that and is proud to have been involved with Expo all over the Globe, from Korea to Kazakhstan and Japan to Dubai, working with participants from many parts of the World.

  • The strongest and most memorable experiences are those that touch every part of you. When all the senses play a role and are in perfect balance is when a story truly touches the heart and creates a lasting impression on the visitor. In World Expo this is always the goal and immersive moments in the visitor journey are what EPG specializes in.
